At Christmas time the Chalets Austria, in the Almdorf-Sankt Johann im Pongau pour on a special charm.In our 11 luxurious Chalets you can daily enjoy the lovingly prepared mountain breakfast. If you wish, we are happy to serve it in your own Chalet. It can be enjoyed in combination with the view of Salzburg’s mountain backdrop.
After breakfast you can follow on with your workout in the in-house gym. It provides the modern equipment of Technogym and the vast view of the valley. Starting the day like this you are mentally and physically prepared to visit the diverse events that only take place at Christmas time and around New Year.
When you return to the Chalet Austria Almdorf in the evening, you can treat yourself in your private SPA area, using your Chalet’s sauna and outdoor whirlpool or you can get a massage. Finally you could let the day end over a good glass of wine, sitting in front of the fire place in which the firewood crackles cosily. Our exclusive resort is located above the village of Alpendorf, so that in a clear night you can see the stars and the glittering lights of Sankt Johann through the big window.

Relaxation starts when waking up: In an infinity bed, that melts together with the mountains in your courtyard, everyday life retreats into the far distance. To the furnishing belong your own SPA area and your private outdoor whirlpool, as well as the fully equipped rustic kitchen with its wine refrigerator. After a good meal, you are invited to enjoy the beautiful view. Your fireplace is well-stocked with enough wood to enjoy long evenings.
Almdorf Sankt Johann – Skiing region Amadé
The Almdorf Sankt Johann in Pongau is harmoniously integrated into the surrounding landscape and is located above Alpendorf – Sankt Johann in Pongau. Especially in winter it offers the divine view of the snow-covered mountains of Salzburg’s Alps and the sparkling Sankt Johann by night. Here you reside in the middle of nature and directly connected to the slopes. Enjoy the rural atmosphere full of romance and isolation.The skiing region Amadé is located amidst the Hochtauern. It provides 760 kilometres of slopes and 260 modern ski lifts.
Skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers and toboggans get their money worth here. For our smallest we provide “ski kindergartens” with a magic carpet, a skiing carousel and a ski school. Starting in the Almdorf the Schischaukel Alpendorf-Wagrain-Flachau links you with the surrounding regions.
Further highlights of the winter holiday in Sankt Johann are Horse sleigh ride, Romantic illuminated toboggan run, Ice stock sport (similar to curling), Ski mountaineering, Cross-country skiing trails, Ice scating.

In winter Austria does not only provide a marvellous mountain backdrop. Since 2016 in Sankt Johann an old tradition has been reinvented: The Licht-Advent, a Christmas market with special flair, has reopened in the city’s Maria-Schiffer-Park.
You will find the market full of light and atmosphere. At the rustic and original stalls you can enjoy culinary delights, marvel at crafts and art, learn how to make candles, experience the Wish Christmas tree, listen to musical performances, send Angel’s post, stroke animals.
Back at home in the Almdorf Sankt Johann you will be awaited with a crackling fire. In your Chalet you can enjoy luxurious ambience combined with modern comfort.
